2024 Women’s U18 World Championships: Australia loses to Chinese Taipei and finishes fourth

The Australia women’s national under-18 team have lost 2–3 to the Chinese Taipei women’s national under-18 in their final game of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B tournament in Jaca, Spain. Australia’s goals were scored by Sophie Reader and Georgia Watts, both being their first in international competition. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to defender Lily Roberts.

In the other games of the day Norway defeated Poland 4–2 and Spain beat South Korea 3–1. Australia finishes the tournament in fourth place with three points from five games and survives relegation due to the tiebreaking rules. Norway finishes in first and earns promotion back to Division I Group A for 2025 while Chinese Taipei comes in last and is relegated to Division II Group A for next season. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the tournament was given to forward Natasha Dube.
