The Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) have added an additional import spot for 2024 which will allow each team to sign a Ukrainian national. The additional spot was added following discussions with the International Ice Hockey Federation who are looking to offer Ukrainian players respite from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In order for a player to be eligible under the new rule they must be based in Ukraine and have played in the Ukrainian Hockey League.
