The Melbourne Ice have defeated the Melbourne Mustangs 6–1 in their exhibition game at the O’Brien Icehouse. Scoring for the match was led by Melbourne Ice defenceman Jeff Solow who recorded a hat trick. The match served as a preseason warmup for both clubs with the Melbourne Ice’s regular season getting underway on 6 April against the Central Coast Rhinos and the Melbourne Mustangs kick their season off on 14 April against the Brisbane Lightning.
