The Newcastle Northstars have added Japanese goaltender Mitsuaki Inoue to their roster for the 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Inoue spent 2023–24 playing for Red Eagles Hokkaido in the Asia League where he recorded a save percentage of 0.938 and a 1.90 goals against average from two games.
Prior to joining Hokkaido, Inoue had spent five seasons playing for the Nippon Paper Cranes, four each with High1 and the Nikko Icebucks, and a season with China Dragon. He also previously competed for Hosei University in the All Japan Inter College Championship between 2005 and 2009 and is a former representative of the Japan men’s national team having competed at the 2007 Asian Winter Games.
