Ice Hockey Australia’s (IHA) and the New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation’s (NZIHF) application to change regional affiliation within the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has been approved following the 2024 Semi-Annual Congress. The IHA and NZIHF will shift from the Asia-Oceania Region to join the Americas Region which will take on the name of the Americas and Oceania Region.
The move is hoped to open up new areas of growth and development for Australia and New Zealand. The two federations join members of the Americas region which includes Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Jamacia, Mexico, Puerto Rica, and the United States.
