2025 Women’s U18 World Championships: Australia defeats South Korea

The Australian women’s national under-18 team have defeated the South Korean women’s national under-18 team 2–1 following a six-round shootout in their fourth game of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B tournament in Katowice, Poland. Australia’s only goal during regular time was recorded by Georgia Watts, while during the shootout, Hannah Cryan scored twice, including the game-winner, and Georgia Watts scored once. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to forward Georgia Watts. The result gives Australia their second win against South Korea in as many World Championships, following their 3–0 result in 2024.

In the other games of the day, Denmark defeated Poland 5–0 and Spain beat China 3–2 in overtime. After the end of the fourth round, Australia moves up to fifth place on the standings, pushing South Korea down to sixth. Denmark meanwhile maintains their position in first, three points ahead of second placed Poland. Australia takes on Poland today for their final game of the tournament. The two teams last met at the 2024 World Championships where Poland won 5–0.
