The Newcastle Northstars have announced the signing of goaltender Matúš Trnka for the 2026 Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) season. Trnka spent 2025 playing for Brisbane Lightning where he competed in 19 games, recording a 0.883 save percentage and a 4.65 goals against average. Since making his league debut in 2023, he has competed in 42 AIHL games and averages a save percentage of 0.869.
