With the 2025–26 season having finished in the Northern Hemisphere we thought we would take a brief look at the Australian players who were competing overseas. Today is Part 9 of 11 featuring Australians in Canada. The information is collected from Elite Prospects and so might not be fully comprehensive.
Luka Ouimette (VIJHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the Oceanside Generals in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League, Ouimette recorded one goal and eight assists from 42 games.
Nikolas Panayi (NAPHL profile (1) and profile (2), GLPHL profile): First season in Canada after spending 2024–25 in Sweden. Playing in the North American Prep Hockey League’s Varsity-18U Division, Panayi competed in 15 games for Blyth-Deerview Raiders U18 Prep, recording seven points, and nine games for the Kingston Wranglers, recording three points. He also played two games for Blyth in the Great Lake Prep Hockey League’s Prep Division and 14 games in independent U18 AAA competition, recording four goals and five assists.
Thomas Papas (New Hamburg profile): Third season in Canada and first with New Hamburg Firebirds after spending 2025–26 with the Tottenham Railers. Playing in independent U18 A competition, Papas recorded a 1.50 goals against average and eight shutouts across 23 games.
Cody Parrott (NAPHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for Victus Academy in the North American Prep Hockey League’s Varsity-18U Division, Parrott recorded three assists from seven games.
Maggie Prior (FSL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for Purcell Hockey Academy in the Female Super League’s 16U AA Division, Prior competed in 27 games, recording three goals and five assists.
