The Melbourne Ice have announced that the remaining Yarra Cup games and the Capital Cup have been cancelled due to ongoing restrictions. To date all but one game of the 2021 Yarra Cup have been either cancelled or postponed. The Melbourne Mustangs won the first game of the tournament 5–4. The Capital Cup was expected to run between 4 and 26 September with games being played in Melbourne and Canberra.
The teams are now working on a completely new schedule though it isn’t clear whether all cancelled games will be played or if the games will form part of the Yarra Cup or the Capital Cup.
