Canberra Brave announce one new signing and six re-signings

Canberra Brave have announced the signing of Matt Marasco along with the re-signing of Jordon Brunt, Nick Christensen, Ricki Miettinen, Aleksi Toivonen, Charlie York, and Henry York for the upcoming 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) season.

Defender Jordon Brunt played six games for the Brave in 2023, recording an assist. Since making his league debut in 2015 he has competed in 103 AIHL games and recorded 21 points.

Forward Nick Christensen played 25 games for the club in 2023, scoring four goals and eleven assists. Since making his league debut in 2019 he has competed in 63 AIHL games and recorded 25 points.

Defender Matt Marasco returns to the club having last played for the Brave in 2022. In total he has competed in ten AIHL games and recorded one goal. During 2023 Marasco competed for the Canberra Blades in the Ice Hockey ACT Senior B League where he recorded 17 goals and 13 assists from 17 games.

Forward Ricki Miettinen played nine games for the Brave in his 2023 debut season, recording two assists.

Goaltender Aleksi Toivonen played 18 games for the club in 2023, recording a save percentage of 0.902 and a 2.65 goals against average. Since making his league debut in 2015 he has competed in 101 AIHL games, recording an average save percentage of 0.883 during the regular season and a 0.908 save percentage in the playoffs.

Forward Charlie York played 25 games for the Brave in 2023, scoring four goals and eight assists. Since making his league debut in 2022 he has competed in 35 AIHL games and recorded 13 points. During the AIHL’s off-season York competed for the Adelaide Generals in the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League where he recorded five points from five games.

Forward Henry York played 22 games for the club in his 2023 debut season, scoring a goal and an assist. During the AIHL’s off-season York competed for the Adelaide Generals in the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League where he recorded three points from five games.
