The Melbourne Ice have defeated the Newcastle Northstars 4–3 in their semifinal game of the 2024 Goodall Cup playoffs. Melbourne had qualified for the match after defeating the Brisbane Lightning in yesterday’s preliminary round and Newcastle had qualified after finishing the regular season in first on the Rurak Conference standings. Melbourne now advance to tomorrow’s Goodall Cup final where they will take on Canberra Brave who had earlier progressed following their win over the Sydney Bears in the other semifinal.
