AIHL news: 5 March 2018

Melbourne Mustangs
– The Mustangs have announced the signing of Canadian defenceman Charles-Olivier Roussel for the upcoming 2018 season. Roussell has spent the 2017-18 season playing for Anglet Hormadi Élite in the French Division 1 and Thetford Assurancia in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey. Roussel was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, however only managed game time in the American Hockey League and ECHL. AIHL news: 13 April 2017

CBR Brave
– The Brave have announced new and returning sponsors for the 2017 season. Returning sponsors include allinsure, Coordinate, McDonald’s ACT, and Anytime Fitness who has increased their support to be a major sponsor. The clubs new sponsor is the Tuggeranong Hyperdome who comes on as a major sponsor for 2017. The ACT Government and Active Canberra will also continue their support of the National League Team Program.

Perth Thunder
Jamie Woodman will take over the captaincy for the 2017 season. Woodman replaces Sam Wilson in the position who has held it since the club joined the league in 2012. Andrew Cox will return as one of the clubs alternate captains, while Per Daniel Goransson replaces Jordan Kyros as the second alternate captain. For more information see the announcement from club.

Newcastle Northstars
– The Northstars have announced the signing of Canadian forward Steven Kuhn for the 2017 season. Kuhn has spent the 2016-17 season playing for Bisons de Neuilly-sur-Marne of the French Division 1 where he has recorded 20 points in 24 games. For more information see the announcement from the club.

Sydney Bears
– The Bears have announced the signing of Canadian forward Tyler Noseworthy for the 2017 season. Noseworthy has spent the 2016-17 season playing in the Federal Hockey League, Southern Professional Hockey League, and the North East Senior Hockey League. Adelaide Adrenaline
– The Adrenaline have announced the re-signing of forward Cole MacMillan for the 2017 season. MacMillan joined the Adrenaline in 2016 and recorded seven goals and 18 assists in his 27 games. For more information see the announcement from the club.

Perth Thunder
– The Thunder have announced that forward Jessyko Bernard will return for the 2017 AIHL season. Bernard record 44 points, including 17 goals for the team last season and has been playing for Albatros de Brest of the French Division 1. For more information see announcement from the club.

Adelaide Adrenaline
– The Adrenaline have announced their final two imports with defencemen Zack Firlotte and Gabriel O’Connor joining the team for the 2016 season. Firlotte spent the 2015-16 season playing for Elsipogtog Hawks of the North East Senior Hockey League and has previously played in the Central Hockey League and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. O’Connor spent the 2015-16 playing for Corsaires de Nantes in the French Division 1 and also formally played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

CBR Brave
– The Brave have renewed their partnership with the Hellenic Club of Canberra which will see the venue act as the clubs official post-game partner for the 2016 season. The Hellenic club partnered with the Brave back in May 2015, replacing their previous post-game partner Smoque.

Thunder sign Kluuskeri

The Perth Thunder have announced their second signing for the 2015 season with Toni Kluuskeri joining the team. Kluuskeri is currently playing for Dunkerque in the French Division 1, the countries second highest league. He has previously played in the Finish Liiga, Mestis league and the Ligue Magnus, as well as representing the Finland national under-20 team.
