USA defeat Canada at Hisense Arena

Team USA have defeated Team Canada 10-6 at Hisense Arena in the final game of the 2017 Ice Hockey Classic. Team USA’s win tied the series at two games each following Canada’s wins in Newcastle and Sydney and the USA’s at the O’Brien Group Arena. The two teams then went into an overtime period to break the series tie with Canada scoring and claiming the series 3-2. Team Canada have now won all three editions of the Ice Hockey Classics, previously winning 3-1 in 2015 and 3-2 in 2016.

USA defeat Canada at the O’Brien Group Arena

Team USA and the Melbourne Mustangs have defeated Team Canada and the Melbourne Ice 8-5 last night at the O’Brien Group Arena. The match, known as the 2017 Ice Hockey Night in Melbourne, saw the Melbourne Mustangs team up with Team USA and the Melbourne Ice join Team Canada for a 4 on 4 exhibition game as part of the 2017 Ice Hockey Classic series. The series will hold its final game on 24 June at Hisense Arena in Melbourne.

Canada defeat USA in Sydney

Team Canada have defeated Team USA 8-5 at the Qudos Bank Arena. Canada now have two wins in the 2017 Ice Hockey Classic series after previously defeating the USA 7-5 in Newcastle. The series now moves to Melbourne for a showcase exhibition event on 22 June at the O’Brien Group Arena and then the main game on 24 June at Hisense Arena.

2017 Ice Hockey Classic to hold game in Newcastle

The organisers of the 2017 Ice Hockey Classic have announced that they will be holding a charity exhibition game on 14 June at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. The match, known as the 2017 Ice Hockey Night in Newcastle, will see Team Canada take on Team USA prior to the Sydney match which is being held on 17 June. AIHL news: 2 June 2017

League
– The league have made two changes to the June fixture in order to avoid a conflict with the 2017 Ice Hockey Classic. The match between the Sydney Ice Dogs and Newcastle Northstars, originally set for 17 June, has been moved to 16 June. The following weekend the match between the Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs has been moved from 24 June to 25 June. Fore more information see the schedule on the league website.

Melbourne Mustangs
– The Mustangs have announced the signing of American goaltender James Kruger for the remainder of the 2017 season. Kruger spent the 2016-17 season playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League, lining up for the Fayetteville FireAntz, Pensacola Ice Flyers and Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs. Kruger comes into the team as a replacement for Fraser Carson who is still out due to injury. For more information see the club announcement.

Melbourne Ice & Melbourne Mustangs
– The Ice and Mustangs will compete in a Showcase Charity Event alongside Team Canada and Team USA as part of the 2017 Ice Hockey Classic. The Showcase Event, known as the 2017 Ice Hockey Night in Melbourne, will take place on 22 June 2017 at the O’Brien Group Arena. The Ice will play alongside Team Canada and the Mustangs alongside Team USA in a 4 on 4 exhibition game. For more details see the Melbourne Ice announcement.

Team Canada claim Ice Hockey Classic Cup

Team Canada have defeated Team USA 6-3 in the final game of the 2015 Canada vs USA Ice Hockey Classic at the Perth Arena. Canada take the series 3-1 and claim the inaugural Ice Hockey Classic Cup.

In the pre-game event at the Arena the Perth Thunder defeated the Melbourne Mustangs 4-3 to move six points clear in the AIHL regular season standings.

Team Canada defeat USA in Game Three

Team Canada have won game three of the 2015 Canada vs USA Ice Hockey Classic defeating Team USA 6-3. Game Three of the exhibition series was held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. The final game of the series is scheduled for 20 June at the Perth Arena and follows the AIHL game between the Perth Thunder and Melbourne Mustangs. The AIHL game kicks of at 15:20 and is followed by the Canada v USA game at 19:00.

Team USA claim one back in the Ice Hockey Classic

Team USA have taken game two of the 2015 Canada vs USA Ice Hockey Classic defeating Team Canada 6-1. Game Two of the exhibition series was held at the Allhphones Arena in Sydney. Competition resumes on 13 June with the two teams travelling to Brisbane to play game three at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

Team Canada open Ice Hockey Classic with a win

Team Canada have won the opening game of the 2015 Canada vs USA Ice Hockey Classic defeating Team USA 9-6. Game One of the exhibition series was held at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena with Game Two to take place tomorrow at the Allphones Arena in Sydney. The two teams are competing in a four game series with Brisbane to host Game Three and Perth Game Four.

On a trivia note Team Canada defeated Team USA 9-6 at last years opening game of the 2014 International Ice Hockey Australian Tour.
