The final game of the regular season was played between the Sydney Sabres and the Sydney Wolf Pack. The Sabres lost the game but finished the regular season in first place, taking their first regular season title. The playoffs also got under way with two of the state finals being held. In the Western Australian State final the Perth Pelicans beat the Perth Sharks to advance to the AJIHL finals, while the Melbourne Whalers defeated the Melbourne Glaciers in the Victorian State final to advance.
The Sabres and Wolf Pack will compete on 1 March to decide the winner of the New South Wales State final before the three winners advance to Melbourne for the AJIHL finals.
