The Australian National under-18 team competed in an exhibition game yesterday against Czech team HC Vítkovice Steel U18. Australia lost the game 2-8, with the teams goals coming from Anthony Barnes, off an assist from Kieren Webster, and second scored by Hayden Sheard, with the assist from Casey Kubara. HC Vítkovice took the lead early in the game scoring two goals in the first period. By the second period HC Vítkovice had extended their lead, scoring another three in response to Australia’s one. The third period finished in similar fashion with the Czech team again putting on three goals to Australia’s one.
The team have one more day of training in Ostrava before they travel to Sofia, Bulgaria for the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship Division III Group A tournament.
