The Sydney Ice Dogs have won game two of the 2014 Wilson Cup, defeating the Newcastle North Stars 5-4 in a shootout at the Erina Ice Arena. The first period ended with the score tied at one a piece with Simon Barg scoring for the Ice Dogs and Patrick Nadin scoring off an assist from Matt Wetini. In the second period the North Stars put on two goals while the Ice Dogs managed to get only one through allowing the North Stars to go into the break with the lead. At the end of the third period the score was tied at four all and the game was forced into a shootout. It would take 15 shots each for the game to be decided, the Ice Dogs scored on their first attempt while the North Stars levelled on their second attempt. The teams then failed to convert until the ninth round of the shootout where both teams got one past the goalie. Both teams again scored in the fourteenth round keeping the game tied. The Game went into the fifteenth round with the North Stars missing their shot on goal, the Ice Dogs then got their attempt past North Stars goalie Joshua Broekman to win the game.
