The 2014 Kurt Defris National Championship was completed today with Victoria defeating New South Wales 3-2 in overtime in the gold medal game. The Defris tournament is open to players 15 and under and is held between the State Associations. This years tournament consisted of teams from New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia. All games were held at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium in Newcastle and the tournament ran from 9 July to 12 July. Victoria’s Findlay Wood top scored for the tournament finishing with 20 points which included 13 goals and seven assists. Victoria also finished on top of goaltenders with Conor O’Brien finishing with the best save percentage of 0.885.
