Sydney Ice Arena site development approved

The Hills Shire Times have reported that The Hills Shire councillors have approved plans to develop the site on which the Sydney Ice Arena sits. The plan submitted by the owners Hillsong and develops Capital Corp outlines the intention to replace the ice arena with a 20-storey development.

The Sydney Ice Arena is currently home to the Sydney Bears and the Norwest Emperors Ice Hockey Club, and hosts the Australian International Ice Hockey Cup along with the Erina Ice Arena. The plans have also left the home arena for the Bears in doubt for the upcoming 2015 AIHL season, with their home venue currently listed as “to be announced” on the draft schedule released by the AIHL.
