The Australian women’s national under-18 team have lost their second game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Qualification tournament, losing to Italy 0-8. Keesha Atkins was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Great Britain beat Poland 3-1, Kazakhstan shutout Romania 15-0 and Austria defeated China 3-1. After the end of the second round Australia is sitting last in Group B, six points behind leaders Italy, while Kazakhstan lead Group A. The teams now have a rest day and return to the ice on Sunday with Australia taking on Great Britain in the last of their group matches.
