The Australian women’s national team have won their third game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament, defeating Spain 4-1. Captain Rylie Padjen was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Iceland defeated Mexico 2-0 and New Zealand beat Turkey 7-4. Following their third straight win Australia moved to the top of the standings, one point clear of Spain and Iceland. Australia take on Iceland today in their final game of the tournament with only a win in extra time required to win the tournament and gain promotion to Division II Group A.
