Round 1 of the 2016-17 Australian Junior Ice Hockey League season has finished with wins for the Brisbane Blitz, Sydney Sabres and Sydney Wolf. The Blitz lead the Brisbane/Canberra/Sydney Conference standings, five points ahead of the second placed Wolf Pack. Details for Round 2 and the rest of the season have yet to be released and will be updated as the information becomes known.
It was earlier announced that last years Tier 2 competition had merged with the main competition and that the league would be split into two conferences. The regular season would then be restructured to consist of conference based tournaments hosted in each city. Due to a lack of information it is still unclear as to whether Melbourne and Perth will be fielding one or two teams. The teams for Adelaide and Canberra are also yet to be confirmed.
