The Sydney Sirens have won the 2017 Joan McKowen Trophy after defeating the Brisbane Goannas 4-3 following a shootout. The Sirens advanced to the final after defeating the Adelaide Rush 10-0 in the semifinals while the Goannas progressed with a 3-0 win over the Melbourne Ice in their semifinal. The win gives the Sirens their first Joan McKowen Trophy having previously finished as runners-up.
