2017 Inline World Championships: Australia lose in semifinals

The Australian men’s national inline hockey team have lost to Latvia 1-3 in their semifinal match of the 2017 IIHF Inline World Championship Division I tournament. Forward Liam Jeffries was named best Australian player of the match and Cameron Todd was named best Australian player of the tournament. In other games of the day Argentina defeated Brazil 5-4, Hungary beat New Zealand 5-3 and Slovenia beat Great Britain 7-4. Following their losses both Brazil and New Zealand are relegated to the 2018 Qualification tournaments. They will be joined by the loser of the relegation game between Argentina and Hungary. Latvia and Slovenia advance to the gold medal match after their wins, while Australia and Great Britain will play each other for the bronze medal. In the preliminary round Great Britain beat Australia 7-1.
