Round 9 of the 2019-20 Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League season has finished with wins for the Sydney Sirens, Melbourne Ice and Perth Inferno. The Sirens move to the top of the standings, two points clear of the second placed Adelaide Rush. The round also saw the use of a 3-on-3 overtime instead of the usual shootout for the 12 January game between the Inferno and Ice. The Inferno went on to win in overtime to pick up their first win of the season. The league later changed the result to a tie due to a breach of rules (see below). Next week the Ice host the Rush in Melbourne and the Brisbane Goannas travel to Perth to take on the Inferno.
