2020 U20 World Championships: Australia shutout Chinese Taipei

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have defeated Chinese Taipei 5–0 in their second game of the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III tournament. Goaltender Sebastian Woodlands stopped all 19 shots against him to record a shutout and was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Turkey defeated South Africa 6–1, Iceland beat Mexico 5–2 and Bulgaria picked up a 3–2 win over New Zealand. After the second round Australia remain at the top of the Group B standings and Iceland moves into first in Group A. Australia, Iceland and Turkey have now all qualified for the playoffs with the fourth spot to be decided between Bulgaria and Mexico. The teams have a rest day today and return on Thursday where Australia take on Turkey for their final game of the preliminary round. The last time these two teams met was at the 2019 World Championships where Australia won 5–3.
