2020 U20 World Championships: Australia finishes second

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have lost to Iceland 1–4 in the gold medal game of the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III tournament. As a result, Australia finish the tournament in second place for the second year in a row. Forward Yannic Lodge was named best Australian of the game. Sebastian Woodlands was named best goaltender of the tournament after posting the top save percentage of 90.32. In the other games of the day Turkey defeated Mexico 4–2 to finish third, Bulgaria beat New Zealand 6–1 for fifth and Chinese Taipei got a 5–4 overtime win over South Africa to come in seventh. Iceland’s win means they are promoted to Division II Group B for 2021, their first time back to Division II Group B since 2015.
