Australians overseas: Kale Costa

In his fifth season playing in the Czech Republic Kale Costa spent the majority of his time with the under-20 team of HC Dynamo Pardubice playing in the DHL Cup and the DHL SuperCup. The 2019-20 season however also saw Costa receive his first call-up to play in the Tipsport Extraliga for Pardubice. The one game call-up finished with a -1 plus/minus. Costa begun his career in the Czech Republic in 2015 when he joined the under-16 team of HC Slovan Usti nad Labem. After two seasons with the under-16 team he was assigned to the under-19 team however moved across to join the under-19 team of HC Dynamo Pardubice for the 2018-19 season.

Back in Australia Costa has been part of the AIHL’s Sydney Ice Dogs roster since 2017, recording 12 points from 13 games. He is also a representative of the Australian under-18 team having played at the 2018 World Championships and was expected to play at the 2020 World Championships prior to its cancellation. At the state level Costa has represented New South Wales on multiple occasions playing in the Ginsberg and De Fris national championships.
