2022 Women’s U18 World Championships: Australia defeat Iceland

The Australian women’s national under-18 team have defeated Iceland 5–1 in their opening game of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division II tournament. Defender Gabrielle Arps was named the best Australian player of the match. In the other games of the day the Netherlands defeated Latvia 5–2 and Great Britain shutout Mexico 6–0. Australia currently sits at the top of Group C while Great Britain and the Netherlands lead Group A and B respectively.

The teams next game is on 29 June when they take on Spain. The two teams recently met in an exhibition game where Australia lost 1–5 and last met at the World Championships in 2017 where Australia won 3–1.
