The National Hockey Super League (NHSL) has announced the formation of the West Conference which adds three new teams to the league. The teams, the Cockburn Chiefs, the Fremantle Fury and the Perth Patriots, are all based in Western Australia and will join the league for the 2022-23 season. Future expansion into Victoria and Queensland is currently planned for the 2024-25 season with three teams in each state.
