2022 Women’s U18 World Championships: Australia loses to Spain

The Australian women’s national under-18 team have lost 1–4 to Spain their second game of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division II tournament. Goaltender Olivia Last was named the best Australian player of the match. In the other games since our last update Spain shutout Iceland 11–0, Latvia beat Kazakhstan 5–1, Turkey beat Mexico 2–1 in a shootout, the Netherlands blanked Kazakhstan 6–0 and Great Britain shutout Turkey 6–0.

Australia finishes the preliminary round in second place on the Group C standings. They now advance to the qualifying round where they have been placed in Group E along with Latvia and Turkey. The teams next game is on 1 July when they take on Turkey. The two teams last met at the 2019 World Championships where Australia won 6–0.
