The final day of the 2022 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with the Melbourne Ice defeating the Sydney Ice Dogs at the O’Brien Icehouse. The CBR Brave finish the regular season in first with 49 points and claim the 2022 H Newman Reid Trophy. It is the Brave’s third regular season title and third in a row, having won their first in 2018.
Competition now moves onto the Goodall Cup playoffs. The first round of the playoffs are set for 2 September with the two semifinals. The first semifinal will see the third placed Sydney Bears take on the fourth placed Melbourne Mustangs for a chance to play in the preliminary final. In the second semifinal the CBR Brave take on the second placed Newcastle Northstars with the winner advancing to the grand final and the loser moving on to the preliminary final.
