The Brisbane Blitz have defeated the Sydney Sabres 5–4 in the qualifying final of the 2022–23 Australian Junior Ice Hockey League playoffs at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. The Sabres and Blitz had qualified for the match after finishing the regular season in second and third place respectively. The Blitz now advance to tomorrows second semifinal where they will take on the Adelaide Generals. Meanwhile the Sabres move on to the first semifinal tomorrow where they will play the Melbourne Glaciers.
