The Melbourne Glaciers have defeated the Sydney Sabres 4–2 in the first semifinal of the 2022–23 Australian Junior Ice Hockey League playoffs at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. The Glaciers had qualified for the match after defeating the Northern Wolf Pack in the elimination final and the Sabres had progressed following their loss to the Brisbane Blitz in the qualifying final. The Glaciers now advance to the preliminary final where they will take on the loser of the second semifinal between the Brisbane Blitz and Adelaide Generals. Meanwhile the Sabres move on to the third-place game tomorrow where they will play the loser of the preliminary final.
