2023 Men’s U20 World Championships: Australia defeats Israel to win gold and promotion

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have defeated the Israeli men’s national under-20 team 4–1 in the final of the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III tournament. With their win Australia wins the gold medal and earns promotion to Division II Group B for 2024. Dmitri Kuleshov led the team in scoring with two goals followed by Lachlan Clifford and Justin Dixon with one each. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to goaltender Matus Trnka and Dmitri Kuleshov was selected as the best forward of the tournament and best Australian player of the competition. In the other games of the day Bulgaria defeated Turkey 8–3 to win the bronze medal and New Zealand beat Kyrgyzstan 3–2 to finish fifth.
