The Brisbane Lightning have announced the signing of Canadian defender David Nelson for the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Nelson made his debut for the club last weekend where he scored a goal in each of the team’s two games. Nelson last played in 2021–22 for the West Carleton Rivermen in the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League where he recorded 14 points from 21 games. Between 2018 and 2022 Nelson competed in three seasons in the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League and two season in the Ligue de Hockey Senior A de l’Outaouais.
