The Newcastle Northstars have defeated Saint John’s University 5–3 in their exhibition game at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. Saint John’s University, who compete in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference of the NCAA’s Division III, are currently in Australia for a two game exhibition series. Their second game is scheduled for 24 May where they will take on the Sydney Ice Dogs at the Macquarie Ice Rink.
