The Melbourne Mustangs have announced that head coach Patrick McMahon has left the club due unforeseen circumstances that have required him to travel home to Minnesota. McMahon joined the Mustangs in February 2023 after a season of coaching the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. He leaves the club in first place on the Hellyer Conference standings with eleven wins from 15 games.
They fired him for not playing a player enough.
