Australians overseas 2022–23: Sweden (part 2)

Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2022–23 season. Today is Part 2 of 2 featuring Australians in Sweden.

Ivan Kuleshov: Second season in Sweden and first with Nyköpings SK after spending 202122 with Viggbyholms IK. Playing on Nyköpings’ under-18 team in the J18 Division 1 Kuleshov recorded 18 goals and 12 assists in his 21 games.

Oskar Lundström: Second season in Sweden. Starting the 202223 off with Strömsbro IF Lundström competed in four games for their under-18 second team in the J18 Division 1, recording four points, before moving up to their under-18 first team where he played six games in the J18 Region. Lundström then shifted clubs, signing with Skutskärs SK for the remainder of the season. Playing on Skutskärs’ under-18 team in the J18 Division 1 Lundström posted 17 points from ten games.

Harry McElligott: First season in Sweden. Playing for Flemingsbergs IK’s under-20 team in the J20 Division 1 McElligott recorded one point and two penalty minutes in his nine games.

Thomas Steven: Second season in Sweden and first with Kungälvs IK after spending 202122 with GSK Hockey. Playing in the HockeyTvåan Steven competed in 35 games, recording six goals and two assists.

Lachlan Sucher: First season in Sweden. Playing for Nyköpings SK’s under-18 team in the J18 Division 1 Sucher recorded 13 goals and 14 assists from 21 games. He also made a brief one game appearance for the club’s under-20 team in the J20 Region. Heading into 202324 Sucher has re-signed with Nyköpings for another season with their under-18 team.

Riley Tonks: Fourth season in Sweden. Starting 202223 off with Kalmar HC’s under-18 team in the J18 Division 2 Tonks competed in three games, recording one point, before joining their under-20 team to compete in the J20 Division 1 where he played seven games and recorded a point. Tonks then shifted clubs, signing with his former club of three seasons Hässelby Kälvesta. Playing on Hässelby’s under-20 team in the J20 Division 1 Tonks scored two goals and three assists in his 16 games.
