The Brisbane Lightning have announced the retirement of their captain Damian Bright after ten seasons in the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). During his playing career, Bright spent nine seasons with the Melbourne Mustangs between 2011 and 2019. In 2022, he joined the Brisbane Lightning as the captain for their exhibition season and led the team in their inaugural 2023 AIHL season. Bright competed in 167 AIHL games, recording two goals, 29 assists, and 184 penalty minutes.
