2024 Men’s U20 World Championships: Australia loses to Romania

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have lost 1–4 to the Romanian men’s national under-20 team in their fourth game of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament in Belgrade, Serbia. Forward Sacha Rapchuk recorded Australia’s only goal of the game and received the IIHF award for best Australian player of the match.

In the other games of the day Iceland defeated Belgium 4–3 and Serbia beat Chinese Taipei 6–1. At the end of the fourth round Australia has dropped to fourth on the standings with Iceland moving back into third. Romania continues to lead the tournament with eleven points, one point clear of the second placed Serbia. The teams have a rest day today and return on 20 January where Australia will take on Serbia for their final game of the competition. The two teams last met at the 2017 World Championships where Serbia won 6–0.
