Central Coast Rhinos defeat Newcastle Northstars in first exhibition game

The Central Coast Rhinos have defeated the Newcastle Northstars 8–3 in their exhibition game at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. The Rhinos opened the scoring in the first period with a goal four minutes into the game. They then extended the lead out to three before the Northstars responded with three goals to level the score. The Rhinos however put on another two late in the second to head into the break with a two-goal lead. The third period saw the Rhinos add three unanswered goals and Mackenzie Bolger recording a hattrick, with the team winning eight goals to three.

The two teams face-off again on 23 March at the Erina Ice Arena for the second game in their two game exhibition series.
