The Sydney Bears have added Japanese defender Kenta Matsukane to their roster for the 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Matsukane spent 2023–24 playing for the Hokkaido Wilds in the All Japan Ice Hockey Championship where he recorded two goals from three games.
Prior to joining Hokkaido, Matsukane had spent two seasons playing for Nippon Paper Cranes in the Asia League and four with East Hokkaido Cranes in the Asia League and Japan Cup. He also previously competed for Meiji University in the All Japan Inter College Championship between 2013 and 2017.
