Day 26 of the 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with the Sydney Bears defeating the Sydney Ice Dogs 7–5 at the Macquarie Ice Rink. In the Hellyer Conference, the Sydney Bears increase their lead at the top of the standings, now three points ahead of the Melbourne Ice who sit in second. In the Rurak Conference, the Newcastle Northstars remain at the top of the standings, nine points clear of the second placed Canberra Brave. The Sydney Bears also continue to lead the league’s combined standings with the Melbourne Ice in second and the Perth Thunder in third. Competition resumes on 22 June with games in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, and Sydney.
Today’s match also served as the final game of the 2024 Wilson Cup series. The Cup is awarded to the winner of the regular season series of games between the two teams. With their win the Sydney Bears claim the series four games to nil after winning 6–2 in the first game, 9–2 in the second, and 4–3 in the third. The title win is the fourth in a row for the Bears and eighth overall since the trophy was first introduced in 2007.
