Day 41 of the 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for the Brisbane Lightning, Canberra Brave, Melbourne Mustangs, and Sydney Bears. Following today’s results, the Sydney Bears claim the H Newman Reid Trophy as winners of the 2024 regular season. It is the Bears first regular season title since 2008 and fourth overall. The Brisbane Lightning meanwhile become the sixth and final team to qualify for the 2024 Goodall Cup playoffs joining Canberra Brave, Melbourne Ice, Newcastle Northstars, Perth Thunder, and Sydney Bears.
In the Hellyer Conference, the Sydney Bears remain in first place with a twelve point lead over the Melbourne Ice in second. In the Rurak Conference, the Newcastle Northstars remain at the top of the standings, two points clear of the second placed Canberra Brave. The Sydney Bears also continue to lead the league’s combined standings with the Melbourne Ice in second and the Perth Thunder in third. Competition resumes on 4 August with games in Brisbane, Central Coast, Melbourne, and Perth.
