The Newcastle Northstars have defeated the Central Coast Rhinos 8–6 in their exhibition game at Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. The match is the first of two exhibition games between the teams being held in the lead up to the 2025 Australian Ice Hockey League season. The teams face-off again on 29 March at Erina Ice Arena for game two of the series.
