The Newcastle Northstars have announced the signing of Finnish forward Santeri Haarala for the 2026 Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) season. Haarala has spent 2025–26 playing for TecArt Black Dragons Erfurt in the Oberliga where he recorded 28 goals and 28 assists from 51 games.
Between 2018 and 2026, Haarala has spent time playing in the Alps Hockey League, Elite Ice Hockey League, Italian Hockey League Serie A, Liiga, Mestis, and Oberliga. He is also a former member of the Finnish national under-20 team, having played in seven games during the 2018–19 season.
