Brisbane Lightning’s ownership has cited an “administrative compliance issue” as the reason for their holding company, Jemsec Investments Pty Ltd, was deregistered by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) on 14 June 2026. Their statement maintains that the club remains financially stable and able to meet its obligations in order to complete the season. Jemsec Investments is now working with advisors and the league in order to resolve the issue.

  1. If they aren’t a company then wouldn’t that mean their insurance and contracts are void now? What does that mean for players? And fans and sponsors who are giving them money?

    • ASIC can reverse the deregistration as if it never happened but I don’t believe that’s an instant process. The insurances are going to be a big issue, hopefully the league has some kind of temp cover that covers teams for these anomalies.
