With the 2025–26 season having finished in the Northern Hemisphere we thought we would take a brief look at the Australian players who were competing overseas. Today features part 8 of 9 Australians in the United States. The information is collected from Elite Prospects and so might not be fully comprehensive.
Benjamin Shearer (AYHL profile, NAT1HL profile, THF profile, UT1HL profile, Invitationals profile): First season with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks and Elmira Junior Aviators after spending 2024–25 with North Shore Academy. With Danbury, Shearer played two games in the Atlantic Youth Hockey League’s 18U Division, recording one point, four games in the North American T1er Hockey League’s 18U Division, and twelve games in 18U AAA competition, recording two points. With Elmira, he played two games in the North American T1er Hockey League’s 18U Division, five games in the Tier 1 Hockey Federation’s 18U Division, recording one point, nine games in the United Tier 1 Hockey League’s 18U Division, recording four points, four games in the PG Invitational, recording two points, and three games in the PG Winter Classic Invitational.
Easton Shearer (UT1HL profile): Second season with North Shore Academy. Playing in the United Tier 1 Hockey League’s 16U Division, Shearer competed in eight games and recorded one assist. He also made 33 appearances for the team in 16U AAA competition, recording three goals and six assists, and five appearances in the Elite Prospects Cup Series’ 16U Division, recording two assists.
Henry Small-Maughan (Kennett profile, Chester County profile): First season with Kennett High School and Chester County Cougars after spending 2024–25 with the Quakers Ice Hockey Club. Playing for Kennett in the Inter County Scholastic Hockey League, Small-Maughan recorded one goal and eight assists from 20 games. He also made two appearances for Kennett in the Flyers Cup. With Chester County, Small-Maughan competed in the Delaware Valley Hockey League’s 16U A American Division and recorded seven goals and five assists across 23 games. He also made four appearances for Chester County in the Liberty Cup Winter Classic and three appearances in the Congressional Cup Midwinter Classic.
Timothy Teligades (UT1HL profile): Second season with CATS Academy. Playing in the United Tier 1 Hockey League’s 18U Division, Teligades recorded a save percentage of 0.864 and a goals against average of 3.83 across six games.
Samuel Tsao (ACHA profile, Gamesheet profile): Second season with Cornell University. Playing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Division 2, Tsao recorded four goals and one assist from seven games. He also made one appearance for Cornell in an exhibition game against SUNY Brockport where he recorded one goal.
