The Australian men’s national under-18 team have lost their first game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division III Group A tournament, losing to Turkey 6-9. Goaltender James Downie was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Chinese Taipei defeated Mexico 4-2 and Israel beat Bulgaria 4-3. After the end of the fourth round Australia has dropped to second in the standings, two points behind leaders Turkey. The teams have a rest day today and return to the ice on Sunday with Australia taking on Mexico in their final game of the tournament.
