Australian U18 Men win Division III Group A

The Australian men’s national team have defeated Mexico 5-4 in their final game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division III Group A tournament, finishing first in the tournament standings and earning promotion to Division II Group B for 2017. Forward Thomas Steven was named best Australian player of the match and captain Ellesse Carini was named best Australian player of the tournament. In other games of the day Israel defeated Chinese Taipei 4-3 following a shootout and Bulgaria beat Turkey 1-0. Mexico, who finished the tournament in last place, is relegated to the Division III Group B tournament for 2017.

Australia U18 Men lose to Turkey

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have lost their first game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division III Group A tournament, losing to Turkey 6-9. Goaltender James Downie was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Chinese Taipei defeated Mexico 4-2 and Israel beat Bulgaria 4-3. After the end of the fourth round Australia has dropped to second in the standings, two points behind leaders Turkey. The teams have a rest day today and return to the ice on Sunday with Australia taking on Mexico in their final game of the tournament.

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have won their third game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division III Group A tournament, defeating Israel 4-3. After the end of the second round Australia have moved to the top of the standings, one point clear of second placed Turkey. The teams have a rest day today and return to the ice on Thursday with Australia taking on Israel.

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have won their opening game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division III Group A tournament, defeating Bulgaria 4-3. Goaltender Alexandre Tetreault was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Israel defeated Mexico 3-1 and Turkey beat Chinese Taipei 5-4 in overtime. After the end of the first round Australia sit in second place, equal on points with leaders Israel. The team takes on Chinese Taipei today in their second game of the tournament.

Australian U18 men defeat Israel in scrimmage match

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have defeated the Israeli men’s national under-18 team 2-1 in a two-period scrimmage match. The two teams were originally scheduled to compete in a full length exhibition game however the format was changed to two 22 minute running time periods following a request from the Israeli team. The game was held as part of the teams training camp before the start of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division III Group A tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria which begins on 14 March. Australia’s two goals were scored by Ellesse Carini

Australian U18 Men tie exhibition match with Bulgaria

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have drawn their exhibition 3-3 against the Bulgarian men’s national under-18 team. The game was held as part of the teams training camp before the start of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division III Group A tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria which begins on 14 March. The Australian goals were scored by Ellesse Carini, Jordon Brunt and Thomas Steven.
